Several years ago, Gerald Schmidt of Rice Lake, Wis., and his son, Josh, invited me up to watch them log with Gerald's big Belgian team. This clip begins with Gerald calling to his team to come to him using only voice commands. They cross-haul load the logs and pull them out of the woods, including up a fairly long grade, to the road where they will be loaded on a truck. They use an antique two-man chain saw to bring down the tree they are harvesting. You can see the entire episode on our youtub
