Between 1946 and 1958, the United States conducted 67 nuclear tests in the Marshall Islands, located north of the equator, between Hawaii and Australia. On the 1st of March 1954, the U.S. conducted its largest nuclear detonation ever on Bikini Atoll, displacing the islanders and putting the population in grave danger.
