A Christmas present from us to you 🎁 Wagner’s Siegfried Idyll was premiered on this day in 1870 in a private performance at his home in Switzerland, arranged as a surprise gift for his wife Cosima. This past September, the TSO performed Wagner's magnificent symphonic poem "Siegfried Idyll" as a part of an evening dedicated to the legendary Glenn Gould. In 1982, Gould gathered a freelance group of musicians together--including 4 current TSO members(!)--to record the piece in its original chamber version.
