The Western Maryland was a small but mighty railroad that hauled coal and freight in Maryland, West Virginia and Pennsylvania before merging with the B&O and C&O to eventually become part of CSX as we know it today. Roll out! CSX Locomotive 1877 honoring the Chicago & Eastern Illinois Railroad has officially joined our heritage fleet. The C&EI Railroad, founded in 1877, played a critical role connecting Chicago with southern Illinois, St. Louis, Mo., and Evansville, Ind., during the expansive growth of the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Part of the C&EI's Evansville line was eventually sold to the Louisville and Nashville Railroad which ultimately became part of the modern CSX network. #ONECSX | CSX

Our 16th CSX Heritage Locomotive, numbered #1834, is officially on track! This locomotive proudly bears the livery of the historic Georgia Railroad, which was chartered in Athens, GA. At its peak, the Georgia Railroad expanded to include key cities and hundreds of miles of track. It later became part of the Seaboard Coast Line Railroad and the Family Lines System, ultimately evolving into our modern CSX. The CSX fleet of heritage locomotives is continuing to grow with the introduction of CSX 1871 painted in a custom design honoring the Atlantic Coast Line Railroad (ACL). First appearing in 1871, the ACL was officially incorporated in 1900 and extended from Georgia to Richmond, Virginia, and later into Florida. The ACL merged with the Seaboard Air Line Railroad in 1967 to form the Seaboard Coast Line, which later became part of CSX. CSX 1871 will carry the ACL colors across our 20,000-mile networ
