On this day in 1972, ABC Records released my father‘s song, ‘Operator.’ You can write a good song based on other people’s experiences but to write a great song you need to have some character building experiences of your own. I first heard my father sing ‘He’s Got a Way With Women’ on a home tape when I was about 12 years old. He covered it in the mid 60’s and it was the first song on my first album 30 years ago and the first song I performed live on The Tonight Show in 1993. Here’s a little piece.
