The shot put and discus starts with the hinge for the entry. Think of one side as the hinge and the other as the door. Doors swing around hinges. When you hinge correctly and keep the heel low early, you’re able to get over the leg, stay stacked, and enter the ring balanced instead of falling in. As you drive and sprint across the ring, the heel will naturally rise because you’re loading and pushing off that leg.
