For the very first time, I opened a 1961 Burgundy a Clos de Comte, Nuits-Saint-Georges from Pierre Gourand & Cie, a historic Burgundy négociant that no longer exists. The bottle itself is a true time capsule. The fill level looked disastrous, the cork in shocking good condition, so my expectations were low. But wine has a wonderful habit of humbling us.
