The Mariana Trench in the Pacific Ocean is the deepest known point on Earth, plunging to an incredible 36,000 feet (nearly 11 km). To put its scale into perspective, if you placed Mount Everest, the tallest mountain on land, inside this trench, its peak would still sit over a mile beneath the surface of the ocean.
